Food, Water and Feed Sample packaging and storage:

All samples must be labeled with at least one identifier and then should be placed in a sealable bag with the submission form in a separate area prior to submission. The submitter is responsible for ensuring that there is no public health risk from specimens, by making sure that the samples are packaged safely. The laboratory reserves the right to not process samples if it is believed the samples have been submitted in a way that possesses a threat to the safety of laboratory staff. Samples should be kept under the following conditions prior to testing and during transportations:
  • Frozen foods must be kept frozen and held at or below -18° C.
  • Unfrozen perishable foods must be held at 0-8 °C
  • Non-perishable canned or low-moisture foods can be stored at room temperature.
  • Water samples should be at 2 – 8°C during transport and analyzed within 24hrs of collection otherwise inaccurate results may be obtained.

CVAS is one of the largest chemistry-based feed labs in the United States and has the resources to offer one of the most comprehensive sets of forage NIR evaluations available to the industry.
Forage Lab Australia offers a wide range of NIR and wet chemistry packages available to suit a large spectrum of feed samples and individual requirements. NIR allows for rapid determination of multiple nutrients and characteristics of a feed or forage. It is a fast, cost effective process available for evaluation of most forage types.

NIR tests we are currently offering:
  • Forage and feed analysis by NIR and wet chemistry
  • DCAD via wet chemistry with a 10 day turnaround
  • Mycotoxin evaluation
  • Silage fermentation acids
  • Fibre digestibility analysis
  • Fatty Acid profiling
  • Amino Acids
  • Manure analysis
